Decanter: 95 / 100 Punkte
"Defined raspberry and redcurrant fruits, some woody spices in the background. Quite a rounded, fluid style, the acidity is really quite merked this year. Tannins are gentle, and it finishes on raspberry and recurrant coulis. There's a silky touch on the palete. It's built around the acidity, the tannins are just gently sandy. Good sense of purity, quite a Burgundian vintage. Less Grenache in the blend this year as it was particularly hit by the frost."
J. Livingstone-Learmonth: 4,5 / 6 Sterne
"Quite a dark red; there is an ease of sunshine in the tone of the bouquet, raspberry fruit, a low key elegance, licorice, bacon fat and a rustle of dried herbs. The palate is fluid, easy travelling, has smoke-cedar tones, leading into a lithe, slightly vegetal, iron-blood finale, a good ping of clarity there. Mourvèdre is evident with its crisp youth, and the very low level of Syrah is no problem. It is therefore rather dark wine with character, potential, a gradual gainer with its Northern profile, acidity to settle etc, the tannins fine. It will be a charmer, is bright in aroma and on the attack also, has a w.o.w. style. 16 hl/ha this year, low. “It’s very drinkable, excites your appetite, is very Mourvèdre,” V Avril. 2046-48"
J. Robinson: 18 / 20 Punkte
"Leather and spiced notes, pure with good fresh vivacity on the nose. The palate is ripe and seductive, layered with forest fruits, dark spiced figs. Attractive refreshing acidity, red fruits and a wild garrigue savoury Mourvèdre note – the tannins are supple and silky – dark forest-fruits finish which is broad, ample and opulent but always with a finesse of tannins and a savoury liquorice mineral note. 2027-2042"
J. Dunnuck: 93-95 / 100 Punkte
"While production was down 40% due to the frost, Vincent was able to make a beautiful 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape that readers will love to have in the cellar. All about finesse and elegance, it reveals a classic Clos des Papes nose of both red and black fruits as well as tons of floral, pepper, and spicy notes. These carry to a medium-bodied 2021 that has good ripeness (the alcohol is 15%), a supple, silky mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's not far off the style of the 2020, and while it doesn't have the density of a top vintage, it nevertheless has balance, complexity, and elegance, and will have 15+ years of longevity."

Zitat J. Livingstone-Learmonth: "Gold standard estate, joy to taste only one red, one white, so good blending is crucial. The yields are always very low – not much more than 20 hl/ha, which serves to concentrate the red wine, and there is an above average emphasis on the Mourvèdre, all planted in clay soils. The blend is now usually 55% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 5% various including white grapes, having been 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 5% various including white grapes into the early 2010s. The 2014 red was utterly charming, a real en finesse ****(*) beauty, while the 2015 is logically a bolder, more demanding ***** wine, requiring patience. The ***** 2016 red is deep and long, a vintage that will age extremely well. The whites drink well in their first couple of years, then back off, close down, and emerge as more complex, stimulating wines around seven years' old; they live well and deserve a top table accompaniment."
