AOC Chateauneuf du Pape (blanc)

Der Clos des Papes blanc ist blumig, zeigt aber immer noch Zitrusnoten wie Grapefruit und einen Hauch von Anis. Er weist auch eine schöne Mineralität auf. Sie können diesen Wein jung mit diesen Aromen genießen oder ihn wie einen Rotwein reifen lassen, wobei er unterschiedliche Entwicklungsstadien durchlaufen wird in Richtung Mineralität, Trockenfrüchte, Honig und geröstete Mandeln.
Bitte nicht kälter als ca. 12°C. trinken und eventuell auch in einer Karaffe belüften.

"Yellow robe; the nose involves peach, table wax, cooked pear, a note of quince paste, a hint of acacia flowers. The palate gives a deft display of white fruits, has a grapefruit style freshness, a nice salted tremor into the finish. There is late grip and control engineered by the Bourboulenc and the Picpoul, a touch of walnut there. It tightens agreeably into the close, is not yet out on patrol. The bouquet will be a bit of a star around eight years’ old. It carries good potential, the late juice having a sure depth in it. It will live well and be graceful, and well established in its filling. Second stage drinking recommended here. “Both the Bourboulenc – we have a lot – and the Picpoul – we have a bit – are important to it; we didn’t have great mildew on this harvest; coulure led to poor flowering on the Grenache blanc, so there is more Bourboulenc and Picpoul to make up for that this year,” V Avril. 2045-47"

"A textural, flavorful and herb-tinged white with notes of dried lemons, white peaches, anise, warm herbs and quince. Medium-bodied with a well-rounded, polished and flavorful development on the palate. Lovely lemon character to the long, mouthwatering and textural finish, with a touch of anise and almond paste. Drink or hold."

Zitat J. Livingstone-Learmonth: "Gold standard estate, joy to taste only one red, one white, so good blending is crucial. The yields are always very low – not much more than 20 hl/ha, which serves to concentrate the red wine, and there is an above average emphasis on the Mourvèdre, all planted in clay soils. The blend is now usually 55% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 5% various including white grapes, having been 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 5% various including white grapes into the early 2010s. The 2014 red was utterly charming, a real en finesse ****(*) beauty, while the 2015 is logically a bolder, more demanding ***** wine, requiring patience. The ***** 2016 red is deep and long, a vintage that will age extremely well. The whites drink well in their first couple of years, then back off, close down, and emerge as more complex, stimulating wines around seven years' old; they live well and deserve a top table accompaniment."
