J. Livingstone-Learmonth: 6 / 6 Sterne
"Deep, dark red. Has a serene, handsome nose, curvy and shiny-fruited, a hint of lees, a lot of elegant small black fruits, a hint of raspberry. The palate links closely, its suave gras really purrs along, Rolls Royce time here. There is a most winning gradual crescendo, symphonic it is. There’s juicy bounty, velvet tannins on the close. This is Grand Vin, with flair and class. It has a bit more finesse than 2015, the tannins have a fine detail. From 2025. 2047-49"
J. Livingstone-Learmonth: 4,5 / 6 Sterne
"(Only 5 instead of usual 12 casks this year, 15 hl/ha due to cold weather at budbreak on the low slopes) Dark red, black tints. Black cherry with Pez sweets, violet, scented airs give a sweet charm on the nose, which strikes a good bendy posture. The palate serves gutsy fruit on roller skates, has verve, and extends with brio, black cherries and soaked cherries (griottes), tasty tannins. This is gourmand Hermitage, long, as well. It’s a wee bit flashy, but is appealing. The aftertaste is peppery, vegetal, shows licorice. It bustles with energy, has a southern leaning, and the fruit lasts well. The Pleasure Crew will adore this. “It’s a petit Gréal this year, and is truly atypical of what I do. The tannins are so ripe, you don’t notice them, almost like Grenache. Only 5 casks – in 2003, I made 7 casks, and it’s never been this low, with the exception of 2016,” Marc Sorrel. From 2022. 2039-42"

Zitat J. Livingstone-Learmonth: "One of the few small domaines with vineyards in plum, central sites at Hermitage. Generally traditional outlook. Attempts have been made since the late 1990s to work the vineyards more naturally. Winemaking has become more consistent. The red Hermitage Le Gréal can be very good indeed, a true child of the hill, and is indeed mighty in vintages such as 2010, 2015 and 2017. The Hermitage Les Rocoules white is an STGT (Soil to Glass Transfer) wine. The white Crozes-Hermitage is a cracker, made from 1945 vines, and the epitomy of traditional white Rhône from the happy marriage of Marsanne and Roussanne. This, too is STGT, and has been excellent in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016."
