"Dark red; the nose has a floral, musky air, an appealing violet presence, also licorice, black berry fruits, a good trail that leaves good joy in the fruit: it’s a most charming opening. The palate leans towards the South, holds fat, fleshy content, with sparks of iron here and there late on, moves into blue fruit, fine powder tannins. This is very attractive, STGT Cornas that reflects calm winemaking. From 2022-23. 2042-44"

"Klarer, dichter, geschliffener Duft nach schwarzen und angedeutet auch roten Beeren mit ein wenig Kirschen, angedeutet Wacholder und Provencekräutern, speckig-fleischigen Nuancen und ätherisch-gewürzigen Anklängen sowie einem Hauch Bitterschokolade. Reife, dichte, feste, saftige dunkle Frucht, sehr feines, jugendliches, wiederum reifes Tannin, nachhaltig am Gaumen, ausgezeichnete Substanz, im Hintergrund ein wenig Wacholder, leicht ätherische Kräuternoten, rauchige und röstige Holzanklänge, nachhaltig, warme und kühle Elemente, sehr guter, straffer, ziemlich saftiger, auch geschliffener Abgang mit gewürzigen Nuancen, Wacholder und einem Hauch Kakao. Muss reifen. Trinkempfehlung: 2022-2032+"

"Always a wine of great finesse and individuality, this is sourced from 80-year-old, low yielding vines grown on granite, and fermented in concrete tanks with daily pumping over before being aged in old barriques. It has a good sense of purity and depth, with a touch of varnish over the expressive red fruits. Medium-bodied, brisk and energetic in style, this works on acidity as well as fine, fairly dry tannins to create structure and add freshness. No excesses or artifice here, just the rapacious fruit. "The 2017 Cornas Patou from Dumien Serrette spent 12-15 month in older French oak barrels, most being 7+ years in age. This inky colored beauty is one of the more concentrated, tannis, structured wines in the vintage. Currants, blackberries, crushed rocks, chocolate, and graphite notes all flow to a full-bodoed, serious backward and inward Cornas that has loads of potential. Don't even think about drinking this until 4-5 years after the vintage."

Das Weingut
Nicolas Serrette übernahm 2013 die Geschäfte von Vater Gilbert, von dem er auch das Handwerk in der Tradition der Familie erlernt hat. Erste Erwähnung findet das Weingut bereits Anfang des 16.Jh.
Kern des Besitzes der Familie sind winzige 2 ha „Patou“, eine extrem steile Granitlage, die biologisch, allerdings ohne Zertifizierung bewirtschaftet wird. Je nach Jahrgang werden die Trauben zu 50-80% entrappt, zunächst im Beton und später in mehrjährig gebrauchten Barriques ausgebaut. Die strahlende Frucht steht im Zentrum der Weine mit großer Finesse aber auch den Cornas-typischen würzigen Noten.
