"Even at this early stage, the 2023 Cornas Patou is gorgeous. Pronounced blood orange, licorice, black cherry, pencil shaving and discreet cedar are all intensified. Crushed violets add a floral nuance. Medium- to full-bodied and super refreshing, the 2023 carries spot-on balance and is shaping up to be a serious follow-up to the promising 2022."

"OVERALL: has a very solid **** platform, mixes some vintage density with local terroir influences. Not a brooding year, open for enjoyment from around 2029. 2047-49
1) (new 228-litre cask, the blend, created 20 Aug 2024) solid **** full red; the nose is firm, firmness from the young oak, Morello cherries, blackberry within. The palate shows oak, but good movement, runs nicely, develops as it goes, so has a classic structure, gives oak traces, grilling on the end. There is good style in the content, the length good; it’s very authentic. From 2027-28. 25 years 2) (2 year 228-litre cask) ****+? quite dark red; the nose gives crushed raspberry, low-key floral/rose tones, red cherry, a hint of oak with some iodine clarity. The palate holds firm juicing, well set content, is compact, on ripe tannins inside. There’s a true density in this, with touches of blood-iron on the second half, is true Cornas. “I adore this,” Gilbert Serrette. From 2029. 26 years 3) (5 year 228-litre cask) ****(*) quite a full red; there’s a hint of beef stock, a good grunt factor on the nose, dark red berry, mulberry central, is fundamental in manner. The palate holds well wrapped cherry fruit, blackberry evident, hits the mark, is STGT Cornas, extends with thrust, its tannins ripe, a little density in them. Good character here. 25 years 4) (6 year 228-litre cask) sure **** dark red; inky dark red cherry with a herbal hint on the nose. The attack is good and close-knit, fluid dark red fruit wheels along well, the tannins crisp, carry energy, kick the close well, the length rocky, sound. 26 years 5) (10 year 228-litre cask) **** bright dark red; has a nicely dark aroma, cooked plums, a muscular style on the bouquet. The palate links closely, shows sturdy filling on the opening, is a thorough, de la terre Cornas, holds nice layers of gras, darkness. 24 years"

"A well-driven, juicy and focused Cornas with cherries, wild herbs and baking spices on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Lively, with plenty of peppercorns on the palate and a flavorful finish with length."

Das Weingut
Nicolas Serrette übernahm 2013 die Geschäfte von Vater Gilbert, von dem er auch das Handwerk in der Tradition der Familie erlernt hat. Erste Erwähnung findet das Weingut bereits Anfang des 16.Jh.
Kern des Besitzes der Familie sind winzige 2 ha „Patou“, eine extrem steile Granitlage, die biologisch, allerdings ohne Zertifizierung bewirtschaftet wird. Je nach Jahrgang werden die Trauben zu 50-80% entrappt, zunächst im Beton und später in mehrjährig gebrauchten Barriques ausgebaut. Die strahlende Frucht steht im Zentrum der Weine mit großer Finesse aber auch den Cornas-typischen würzigen Noten.
