"Vibrant aromas of black cherries, wild strawberries, cassis, fresh mint and rosemary linger on the nose. Cedarwood and thyme notes emerge with further aeration. The palate is juicy with lush waves of blackberries, blueberries, light baking spice and clove. Rustic tannins frame the fruit beautifully and should further integrate from additional cellaring well through 2035+."

"The Grenache-dominated 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Des Deux Freres, which includes 15% Syrah, is another behemoth of a wine from this brilliant estate that readers will adore. Still again in used barrels, it has plenty of cassis, spicy oak, pepper, violets, and licorice notes to go with a full-bodied, ultra-pure, seamless style on the palate. It's certainly a bigger, richer wine compared to the Mon Aieul, with some wood to integrate, yet it too is as seamless, pure, and layered as they come."

"The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Réserve Des Deux Freres is almost all Grenache but includes a tiny parcel of very old vine Serine Syrah from Charbonniere. This deep purple-hued effort boasts a killer nose of blackberries, cassis, spicy wood, graphite, and ground pepper, among other Provençal nuances. Pure, full-bodied, and flawlessly balanced, it has building yet perfectly ripe tannins, the vintage’s more elegant, streamlined style, and a great finish. It's beautifully done and will benefit from just a few years of bottle age and keep for 15 to 20 years. Drink 2022 - 2042."
Wine Advocate: 95-97 / 100 Punkte
"The 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des 2 Freres raises the quality bar higher, offering scents of cedar, dried spices and black cherries. A blend of 85% Grenache and 15% Serine (Syrah), aged in new barrels, it's full-bodied, rich and plush in feel, finishing long and velvety. I've said this before, but it bears repeating—I'm not usually a fan of maturing Grenache in small-format new oak vessels, but it seems to work in this case, resulting in a wine that's somehow dessert-rich, yet savory and not overbearing, with a soft, almost pillowy impression on the palate. Drink 2023 - 2040."
The Wine Cellar Insider: 97 / 100 Punkte
"One of the darkest colored, and most complete wines of the vintage, the wine is equally dark on the palate. Rich, lush and deep, with fabulous layers of richly-textured, glycerin-filled fruits. This in an incredible achievement for the vintage. The depth of flavor, length and freshness does not quit, it just keeps right on going. The wine is made using 100% old vine Grenache. Drink from 2024-2040."
