Trinkempfehlung: 2024-2040+"
Decanter: 95 / 100 Punkte
"A fairly straightforward year for the Gonon brothers despite fairly low yields of 28hl/ha. The 2017 is rich and generous in fruit and ripe tannins, but is so well held together and ushered into shape. It's densely coloured, with beautifully fresh herb aromas and super-fresh, pure blackberries on the tongue. It has plenty of relief and texture, with crisp acidity and a long, mineral finish."

"The 2017 Saint Joseph offers up effusive notes of mint, black olives and black cherries. As usual, the Gonons have managed to combine herbal, savory and fruity elements into a compelling, harmonious whole. The wine is medium to full-bodied and fully ripe, perhaps not quite as lush and fruit-driven as the 2018, but it's still a tremendous success, capped off by gentle tannins and salted licorice on the long finish."
J. Dunnuck: 94 / 100 Punkte
"The 2017 Saint Joseph showed beautifully and has a slightly more elegant yet sunny profile compared to the bigger, richer 2018, revealing a deep purple color as well as sumptuous notes of black raspberries, crème de cassis, toasted spices, ground pepper, and a terrific sense of minerality. Playing in the medium to full-bodied end of the pool, with ripe, sweet tannins, and a great finish, it’s another terrific wine from this estate which is unquestionably in the top handful of domaines in Saint Joseph. You can drink bottles today or cellar for over a decade."
Vinous: 94 / 100 Punkte
"Dark purple. Ripe, spice-accented black and blue fruits, cherry liqueur, olive and a pungent floral note on the intensely perfumed nose. Plush blackberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors display excellent clarity and turn sweeter with air. The smoky, extremely persistent finish shows outstanding detail, and pliant tannins fold smoothly into the sappy, lingering dark fruit."

Zitat J. Livingstone-Learmonth: " An STGT (Soil to Glass Transfer) domaine par excellence, and fantastic value and consistency - these red Saint-Josephs are top notch Syrahs. The Vieilles Vignes red, occasionally produced in small quantities, is exceptional. The Gonon brothers, true countrymen and taught by their father, make delightful, delicious wines of genuine pedigree. There is a sensible transfer of fruit from mature vineyards to the cellar, where methods are calm and watchful. No new oak in sight. The white is a high-class example of Marsanne, laced with a little Roussanne from a top, south-facing vineyard, Les Oliviers. Both red and white can evolve well over 20 years in the good vintages."
