J. Livingstone-Learmonth: 4,5 / 6 Sterne
"Dark red robe with lustre. The aroma is sexy, gives curvy red fruits, lingering raspberry coulis, liqueur, with reserves within, inky touches, is sparked, its cave-like cool beckons. The attack is bright, spice-pepper freshness on board, nicely linear and purposeful. This is high interest St Jo with poise and local truth. The close is very clear. It combines sensuous promise with serious underpinning. From 2023. 2043-45"

"Deep magenta. Displays expansive aromas of black raspberry, cherry liqueur, candied flowers and olive, along with exotic spice and smoky mineral nuances. Weighty as well as energetic in style, offering sappy, mineral-drenched black and blue fruit preserves, floral pastille flavors and hints of star anise and allspice. Finishes juicy, lively and wonderfully long, with resonating spice and floral notes and youthfully gripping tannins."

"The 2020 Saint Joseph is another gem from this estate. From yields of 36 hectoliters per hectare and fermented with plenty of stems, its deep purple hue is followed by a quintessential Saint-Joseph bouquet of dark, peppery fruits, damp earth, violets, and spring flowers. With a beautiful sense of minerality, medium to full body, ripe tannins, and no hard edges, this gorgeous Saint-Joseph will evolve for 10-15 years with no issues."

"A classic expression of Saint-Joseph - fruit melded with black olive - this has body but is light in tannin, while the acidity is low but balanced. An elegant, juicy, very drinkable vintage with moderate alcohol, lower than the 2019. The wine had just been transferred to tank post-élevage at the time of tasting, so was showing quite closed; it may well improve and show better after bottling. Drinking Window 2022 - 2030"

Zitat J. Livingstone-Learmonth: " An STGT (Soil to Glass Transfer) domaine par excellence, and fantastic value and consistency - these red Saint-Josephs are top notch Syrahs. The Vieilles Vignes red, occasionally produced in small quantities, is exceptional. The Gonon brothers, true countrymen and taught by their father, make delightful, delicious wines of genuine pedigree. There is a sensible transfer of fruit from mature vineyards to the cellar, where methods are calm and watchful. No new oak in sight. The white is a high-class example of Marsanne, laced with a little Roussanne from a top, south-facing vineyard, Les Oliviers. Both red and white can evolve well over 20 years in the good vintages."
