Jean Gonon: "Im Jahr 2022 waren die Syrah-Trauben klein, aber fest und mit dicken Schalen. Im Jahr 2023 waren sie größer, die Häute feiner, zerbrechlicher, aber in ihrem Zustand am Ende besser entwickelt mit einer tiefen Art. Die Säurewerte waren in beiden Jahrgängen niedrig."

"Violets and raspberries, this is a relatively light-bodied vintage. Fine, delicate but ripe, with lovely balance, making this very fresh and drinkable. Not a hugely concentrated year, but very attractive vintage 'à l'ancienne'. (Drink between 2025-2035)"

"Dark red; the bouquet is inviting, sweet-toned, an air of coulis of blackberry, refined, with precision in the fruit, licorice and cassis also, is notably elegant, and lingers. The palate flows well, off we go, gains emphasis, a neat upping of the ante towards the finish, is harmonious, measured, a wine of naughty pleasure, really tasty. It has beau balance, shows mineral cool on the aftertaste. The fruit can advance further on the finish, while the tannins are velveteen. This is seductive wine. 2044-46"

"The complex 2023 Saint-Joseph emerges initially with pronounced orange rind, fresh violets and pencil shavings. Black cherries add more nuance. Refined and smooth, the 2023 sports spot-on overall balance between elevated flavour concentration, fresh acidity and notably refined tannins lending gentle structure. A delicious red Saint-Joseph from the talented Gonon brothers that's going to benefit from at least two more years in a cool cellar. Drink 2028-2038"

The Vieilles Vignes red, occasionally produced in small quantities, is exceptional. The Gonon brothers, true countrymen and taught by their father, make delightful, delicious wines of genuine pedigree. There is a sensible transfer of fruit from mature vineyards to the cellar, where methods are calm and watchful. No new oak in sight. The white is a high-class example of Marsanne, laced with a little Roussanne from a top, south-facing vineyard, Les Oliviers. Both red and white can evolve well over 20 years in the good vintages."
