It tastes like the essence of Syrah. Drink 2025-2032"

"The 2023 Les Îles Féray l'Ardeche is delicious as it opens with intense dark cherry, peppery scents, crushed graphite and orange rind. Black-fruited and spicy, the medium-bodied 2023 shows well at this early stage, following through with notable freshness on the elegant finish. Drink 2026-2029"

"A more herbal style than usual, with oregano and tomato stalk notes thanks to the 50% whole bunch. Light-bodied, refined, bright, snappy and drinkable. A crisp and vibrant vintage of this cuvée; highly smashable. Drink 2025-2029."

The Vieilles Vignes red, occasionally produced in small quantities, is exceptional. The Gonon brothers, true countrymen and taught by their father, make delightful, delicious wines of genuine pedigree. There is a sensible transfer of fruit from mature vineyards to the cellar, where methods are calm and watchful. No new oak in sight. The white is a high-class example of Marsanne, laced with a little Roussanne from a top, south-facing vineyard, Les Oliviers. Both red and white can evolve well over 20 years in the good vintages."
