"Glass-staining violet. Displays expansive, highly perfumed aromas of black raspberry and boysenberry, with exotic spice, violet oil, smoky mineral and incense notes building in the glass. Densely packed yet almost shockingly energetic on the palate, offering penetrating black and blue fruit liqueur, floral pastille, allspice and olive paste flavors with a hint of cracked pepper. The floral note carries emphatically through a wonderfully long, sharply detailed finish that's framed by youthfully gripping, polished tannins."

"Dark red; there’s a notch of class on the bouquet, which is very fresh, has more to give, for now shows cherry fruits, mulberry, is rather vivid. The palate engages well, has a grain thread, powder tannins within, blood-iron on the close, right off the rockface, iodine on the aftertaste, as well as floral notes. This has lots going for it, is complex, a take your time wine. From 2027. 2047-49"

Das Weingut
Bei absoluten Insidern und Liebhabern der Weine der nördlichen Rhone hat dieses Weingut Kultstatus!
Zwar finden sich kaum Publikationen der Fachpresse und kaum einer der namhaften Weinkritiker hat das Gut auf der Liste. Das hat aber ganz einfach zwei Gründe:
1. Die Produktion ist so klein und dabei so herausragend, dass sie den Gangloffs von den Liebhabern jedes Jahr förmlich aus der Hand gerissen wird und somit gar keine Werbung nötig ist. (Auch wir bekommen leider nur eine winzige Menge zugeteilt.)
2. Die Gangloffs mögen keinen Rummel und konzentrieren sich lieber auf die Arbeit in Weinberg und Keller. Denn wegen ihrer Detailversessenheit möchten sie kaum einen Arbeitsschritt delegieren und produzieren ihre Weine in der Tat von A bis Z selbst.
Ganz behutsam haben der gebürtige Elsässer und seine Wiener Ehefrau begonnen, zunächst die Arbeit im Weinberg zu lernen und haben anfangs die geernteten Trauben an die namhaftesten Winzer verkauft. Dann erst haben sie eigene Schritte der Vinifikation gemacht und sich ständig akribisch verbessert. Heute zählen die Weine von Mathilde und Yves Gangloff zur absoluten Spitze der Region. Sie sind stets konzentriert, reich, dunkel, rauchig und dabei jederzeit voller Finesse.

Zitat j. Livingstone-Learmonth: "Yves' life was thrown into tragedy by the premature death of his beloved wife Mathilde just at the harvest time in 2011. She was in her early fifties. Mathilde was an artistic all-rounder, so suited to Yves. She sang jazz, designed soaps from grape varieties, and worked on the domaine. Friends and colleagues helped with the 2011 harvest. There is beautiful elegance in the Condrieu, a wine that has gained in dimension and depth in recent years.
The Côte-Rôties also show the domaine's trade mark finesse and stylish fruit, with the Sereine Noire capable of sound evolution: the 2015, a ***** wine from cask tasting, should live for around 25 years. With a full harvest in 2015, Yves introduced a Côte-Rôtie Côte Rozier on its own (1,500 bottles, ***** quality), wine that usually goes into La Sereine Noire. It was not made independently in 2016. Saint-Joseph red and white are now also offered, sound quality."
