J. Dunnuck: 93-95 / 100 Punkte
"I continue to love the wines from this terrific family estate. The 2022 Cornas Patou is ripe and concentrated, with classic, old-school notes of red and black fruits, smoke meats, bouquet garni, and smoked game. This powerful, medium to full-bodied, concentrated effort has plenty of ripe tannins, fabulous balance, and outstanding length."
J. Livingstone-Learmonth: 4,5 / 6 Sterne (Leading Cornas 2022)
"1) (new 228-litre cask) **** dark red; has a chunky aroma, firm fruit, oak firmness. The palate has a solid debut, sustains well, carries plenty of muscle, with thick tannins, ripe ones. It’s rather massive, doesn’t need the additional depth-hit of the oak. From 2027+ 25 years
2) (4 yr François 228-litre cask) ****(*) full red; good lift, bouncv fruit on the nose, has inky notes, iron-blood, mixed herbs, can get into good shape, organise. The palate opens firmly, is well fuelled, grounded, a de la terre Cornas, thick, bright juice on the inside, and a liberal fruit display that criss-crosses it late on. It’s grippy, ferrous with vintage cladding-depth, late concentration, develops a lot of late tannin. From 2029 30 years
3) (Patou, 228-litre cask) ****+ full red; broad, deep, solid nose. The palate starts on mineral-iron filings, with a determined tannic thrust, has fuel and compact content, a close-knit, inky strength, tannic thrust. The achievement of clear fruit in the context of the vintage is good. Plenty of tannin is present. From 2028-29. 28 years 2048-50"
Vinous: 91-94 / 100 Punkte
"The 2022 Cornas Patou wafts from the glass with intense orange blossom, violet, raspberry compote, blackberry liqueur, cedar, hints of leather and crushed rocks. The 2022 is an intense Cornas framed by boatloads of ripe tannins, with secure aging potential. I’m quite curious as to how this will show from bottle."
