Decanter: 94 / 100 Punkte (TOP scoring St. Joseph 2022)
"Relatively light in body for this cuvée, with very fine tannins for the vintage and good acidity. Nice sense of vibrancy, but perhaps not as deep or long as the finest vintages of Gonon's St-Joseph. Enjoyably crisp structure, however, and a lightly mineral finish. There's a possibility this might close down for a period, so drink young or wait until 2030. Drinking window: 2024-2036"
Vinous: 93-95 / 100 Punkte
"The medium-bodied 2022 Saint-Joseph will delight Gonon fans. Pronounced floral notes rise up from the glass, mingling with ripe red fruits, orange rind, cedar and delicate earthy subtleties. Despite the warm vintage, there’s no trace of heat in this refreshing 2022, showing stylistic similarities to the outstanding 2020. Ripe tannins provide excellent grip to what will surely be an energetic and exuberant Gonon with secure aging potential."
J. Livingstone-Learmonth: 4,5 / 6 Sterne (Leading St. Joseph 2022)
"1) (600-litre cask, Les Oliviers) **** dark red. Spice-floral, nice raw Syrah red fruits on nose. The palate bears a peony perfume, compact gras, a definite centre to it, some suave feel. It pursues a steady route. The tannins are firm but not aggressive. Some sun influence. “Les Oliviers is always more broad, large than the others”, J Gonon. 21 years
2) (600-litre, Les Rivoires, La Croix, Tournon) ****+? Dark red. Discreet, fine strawberry, red berry airs, bingo clarity. The palate is cool, well lined, nicely restrained, rather crisp, has smoke-chalk influences, a more granite inflexion, carries a good vibe, is natural. The shape of this is remarkable given the growing season conditions. “It’s dense, but fresh”, J Gonon – I agree. 23 years
3) (St Jean de Muzols, ex Raymond Trollat) ****(*) dark red; stylish nose, black cherry fruit, blue fruit, sparks of granite, cordite within, with crushed raspberry airs. The palate has a good line of spine – that renders it droit and gives it direction, while it’s enclosed by rocky-grainy tannins. It's notably structured, serves a max purpose for the blend on that basis. It holds very articulate red fruit, is a real terroir, STGT wine, great truth in it. “It always has less flesh, is more thin than Tournon, which is typical of St Jean,” J Gonon. 24 years 2044-46"
J. Dunnuck: 92-94 / 100 Punkte
"Black raspberries, violets, pepper, and orange blossom-like notes all emerge from the 2022 Saint Joseph, a medium to full-bodied, incredibly elegant Saint Joseph that has solid acidity, a pure, layered, seamless mouthfeel, and outstanding length. Fermented with lots of stems (90%), it's going to warrant 3-5 years of bottle age."

Zitat J. Livingstone-Learmonth: " An STGT (Soil to Glass Transfer) domaine par excellence, and fantastic value and consistency - these red Saint-Josephs are top notch Syrahs. The Vieilles Vignes red, occasionally produced in small quantities, is exceptional. The Gonon brothers, true countrymen and taught by their father, make delightful, delicious wines of genuine pedigree. There is a sensible transfer of fruit from mature vineyards to the cellar, where methods are calm and watchful. No new oak in sight. The white is a high-class example of Marsanne, laced with a little Roussanne from a top, south-facing vineyard, Les Oliviers. Both red and white can evolve well over 20 years in the good vintages."
