"Medium depth fine red robe; the nose carries a trim air of raspberry, an easy sweetness, some smoke snap, white pepper. The palate holds pure red berry fruit, cherry, raspberry fruit, flows well, picks up low-key vegetal, smoky notes. It’s very light on its feet, a bon canon, w.o.w. wine that is jolly and joli. “The spice-pepper is a sign of cold vintages,” Jean Gonon. 2027-28"

"Bottled in March 2023, the 2021 Les Iles Feray l'Ardeche checks in at 12.5% alcohol. Elegant and refreshing, the acidic backbone is much more present here compared to the more supple 2022 rendition. Red-fruited and floral, the 2021 Les Iles Feray l'Ardeche closes with a sapid finale and should drink well right out of the gate."

The Vieilles Vignes red, occasionally produced in small quantities, is exceptional. The Gonon brothers, true countrymen and taught by their father, make delightful, delicious wines of genuine pedigree. There is a sensible transfer of fruit from mature vineyards to the cellar, where methods are calm and watchful. No new oak in sight. The white is a high-class example of Marsanne, laced with a little Roussanne from a top, south-facing vineyard, Les Oliviers. Both red and white can evolve well over 20 years in the good vintages."
