"Quince and pear, ripe but not overripe. Silky, broad and full – as always for this cuvée – but with good freshness and acidity, and gently warming alcohol on the finish. Very long, with good tension and a touch of honey and nougat to end on. An intense and concentrated vintage. Drinking window: 2023-2028"

"Lustrous yellow robe; the nose has a nice silky aspect, a gentle air of white peach, apricot, fresh quince plum, is wide, has scope, is just starting to stir. The palate has a caramel, rich leaning with pockets of nuttiness, classic Marsanne, is unctuous, lissom, has a pretty texture, with temptation from that. This has authority, poise. “It’s more ripe, more classic than 2023, and I would eat mushrooms with it,” Jean Gonon. 2040-42"

"Not yet bottled, the 2022 Saint Joseph Blanc will nevertheless be a gorgeous wine. Ripe, honeyed stone fruits, white currants, croissant, and subtle minerality all emerge from this beauty, and it's medium-bodied, with a balanced, elegant profile and outstanding length. These brothers have an incredible terroir for whites, and you can safely put this up with anything in the appellation."
J. Robinson: "Honeyed and fresh, pure and inviting nose. This is lovely and balanced and has great weight but isn't overblown at all. Textured and polished and carries its 14% alcohol very well. Drinking Window: 2024-2030."

The Vieilles Vignes red, occasionally produced in small quantities, is exceptional. The Gonon brothers, true countrymen and taught by their father, make delightful, delicious wines of genuine pedigree. There is a sensible transfer of fruit from mature vineyards to the cellar, where methods are calm and watchful. No new oak in sight. The white is a high-class example of Marsanne, laced with a little Roussanne from a top, south-facing vineyard, Les Oliviers. Both red and white can evolve well over 20 years in the good vintages."
