Bettane & Desseauve: 99 / 100 Punkte
"Absolut grandios. Es fehlen einem die Worte, um die Selbstverständlichkeit seiner Harmonie zu beschreiben. Zwischen seiner fast perfekten Cremigkeit, der Kraft seiner Frucht und der hervorragenden Samtigkeit seiner Tannine ist alles perfekt an seinem Platz. Mit einer Lagerzeit von zehn Jahren könnte er uns ein paar Tränen entlocken. Was für ein Gefühl. Gänsehaut garantiert."
Falstaff: 99 / 100 Punkte
"Kräftiges Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Ockerrandaufhellung. Zart nach frischer, reifer Herzkirschen, Nuancen von Pflaumen, zart nach Nougatkaramell, einladendes Bukett. Saftig, elegant, gute Frische, feine Fruchtsüße, reife, integrierte Tannine, schokoladiger Touch im Abgang, bleibt lange haften, steht am Anfang einer glänzenden Karriere."
Decanter: 98 / 100 Punkte (Matt Walls' TOP scoring Rhone 2019)
"Bright and floral on the nose. The tannins are extremely fine, almost imperceptible, but very much present, giving the wine a strong base for long aging. It's perfectly balanced, long and deep, resulting in a rich but surprisingly classic vintage of Clos des Papes considering the extreme conditions this year. Vines are typically 30 to 40 years old, spread across 24 parcels. Matured for 12 month in foudres of at least four years of age. Drinking window 2029-2045"
Wein Plus: Hervorragend (TOP 10 "Best of Chateauneuf du Pape")
J. Livingstone-Learmonth: 5 / 6 Sterne
"Dark red; the nose is deep, closed, gives a note of blackberry jam, prune with steady density, has real inner depth, just a hint of mineral within. The palate summons prolonged forces of red fruits, mulberry, has a lot of intensity, digs in, holds a black fruit firmness from the Mourvèdre, smoky channels, notes of leather, licorice towards the finish. It’s an upstanding wine, very well structured. There’s a liaison with 1990, an upping of the latter’s internal depth. The finish is very thorough. It’s very complete, a classic for game and sauced dishes, is close to ******. “It’s a big Mourvèdre year, shows black fruits, blackberries; 2019 is more fine than 2016, has the same matter, power; it’s more classic Châteauneuf than 2020, but I wouldn’t want it every year,” V Avril. From 2028. 2053-55"

"Tasted out of bottle, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape is a stunning example of this estate as well as the vintage. Gorgeous kirsch, flowery incense, spice box, and garrigue-like notes define the nose, and it hits the palate with classic Clos des Papes elegance and finesse backed up by a great mid-palate, fabulous concentration, and a monster of a finish. Don’t miss this beauty."
Wine Advocate: 97 / 100 Punkte
"Coming in at 16% alcohol (like the 2016), the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape from Clos des Papes carries it comfortably, showing no sign of overt heat or overripeness. Hints of leather and crushed stone appear on the nose, adding a pleasant nuance to the somewhat monolithic black-cherry fruit. It shows less nuance and complexity than the 2020 at this stage but shows plenty of promise, as its concentration is matched by freshness and a long, reasonably elegant, finish. This will likely need some time to come around. Like many of the producers I visited in late 2021, Paul-Vincent Avril seemed happy to receive a visitor after so many months of virtual isolation. "We've had a good summer—not too hot," he said. The estates parcels were, however, badly affected by frost in the spring. His team began picking on September 20, paused over the following weekend for rain, and he expected them to finish on October 2. "The phenolic maturity is there, the sugars are there," Avril said. "No, it won't be like 2019, but I think we will come in around 14.5–15 degrees [of alcohol]. I think, I don't like to say before the vintage is finished."
Wine Spectator: 97 / 100 Punkte
"This is a stunner, offering a gorgeous core of black tea-infused cassis, plum reduction and raspberry purée flavors. Additional black licorice, black tea and incense notes emerge alongside the fruit on the long, lush, seductive finish, which is harnessed by a graphite frame. A very confidently rendered wine."
The Wine Cellar Insider: 98 / 100 Punkte
"It is the sublime sense of symmetry and richness on the palate, along with the sensuous texture that hit all the right notes. There is a gorgeous purity to the sweet kirsch, length, and silky tannins that make this vintage stand out. This wine should age and evolve for 2-3 decades with ease. The yields were only 22 hectoliters per hectare. The wine is a blend of 45% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, and the remaining 5% consists of various, allowable grape varieties. The grapes are as always 100% destemmed. Drink from 2025 - 2040."

Zitat J. Livingstone-Learmonth: "Gold standard estate, joy to taste only one red, one white, so good blending is crucial. The yields are always very low – not much more than 20 hl/ha, which serves to concentrate the red wine, and there is an above average emphasis on the Mourvèdre, all planted in clay soils. The blend is now usually 55% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 5% various including white grapes, having been 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 5% various including white grapes into the early 2010s. The 2014 red was utterly charming, a real en finesse ****(*) beauty, while the 2015 is logically a bolder, more demanding ***** wine, requiring patience. The ***** 2016 red is deep and long, a vintage that will age extremely well. The whites drink well in their first couple of years, then back off, close down, and emerge as more complex, stimulating wines around seven years' old; they live well and deserve a top table accompaniment."
